Description
The AMS1117 series of fixed/adjustable voltage regulators are designed by Advanced Monolithic Systems which can function efficiently at a temperature vary from -40℃~125℃. The dropout-voltage of the component is also low, which is calculated at 1.3V when operating at the maximum current.
The current limit is set to decrease the stress under overcharge conditions on both power source circuitry and the regulator.
It contains 3 pins and is widely used in all kinds of models that require voltage regulations. (summarized by Easybom)
Hints for Using
Due to the design of the circuit, AMS1117 requires the implementation of an output capacitor, which guarantees stability for all kinds of operating situations.
There’s no need for protection diodes to be deployed even the AMS1117 operates with a capacitor. However, it is recommended to apply a diode from output to input in the case that a crowbar circuit is used at the input of the AMS1117.
As is depicted in the table above, when AMS1117 is continually operating, considerations should be given on the junction temperature which should be held under no higher than 125°C.
In terms of resistance regulations, the ideal module of the effective resistance concerning the resistor divider R1 would be delivered in the formula below:
