The payment of the road tax as we all know is mandatory and compulsory for the need for constructing and maintaining the roads across the country. The payment of the road tax in Delhi can thus be made by availing the option of making the payment in the online mode by visiting the online portal Vahan Citizen Service which is maintained by the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways. This platform has been established by the Central Government in the attempt for ensuring the delivery of a dedicated platform through which the citizens across the different states and parts of the country can complete their various formalities relating to transport and highways on the online mode. Thus, the vehicle owners must visit the official website of Vahan where on the homepage they must select the state and the RTO with which their vehicle is registered. In the case of Delhi, individuals are required to select Delhi as a state after which they must select their respective RTO from the drop-down list consisting of the names of Delhi RTO Offices. After this, they may proceed and must complete the other concerning formalities along with making the payment of their stipulated amount of road tax. The calculation of the road tax in Delhi is based on several criteria and considerations and must be duly paid within the period of the deadline by the vehicle owners. The provisions of the payment of the road tax for Delhi are mentioned in Section 3 of Delhi Motor Vehicle Taxation Act, 1962 based on which the individuals have to make their payment of the road tax.
Further, the road tax payment in Delhi can also be made offline by visiting the nearest RTO Office across Delhi which is set up zonally. For this, the vehicle owners must fill their form along with submitting it to their nearest transport office.
