Should You Buy Backlinks?

You may have heard of buying backlinks, but don’t know if it is something you should do.

Buy cheap backlinks from unreliable sources is a Black Hat Search Engine Optimization technique. This is a method of misleading Google and other search engines to get your website ranked higher than it should.

You are not doing off-page optimization right if you purchase backlinks.

Spammy backlinks are not a good idea

This pop-up ad is a red flag!

This is black hat SEO at its best. This is the best example of black hat SEO. These services rely heavily on link farms and low-quality news websites linking to as many services as possible.

These websites often have gibberish Buy Guest Post content and links that are completely ineffective.

Google’s Position on Link Buying

Google explicitly opposes the exchange of money for links.

Google does not say that “link schemes” can have a negative effect on website search engine rankings. It says these schemes can “negatively impact a site’s ranking in search result” (emphasis mine).

This should lead to the conclusion that the more obvious and direct the exchange of money for a link, then it will be less natural. Google will punish links that are less natural if they appear to be unnatural. Google uses “can” instead of “will” because there are link building strategies that, while they involve money exchange, don’t fall under the same spammy category as paid-for ones.

What is the difference between follow and no follow links?

As we’ve seen, there are two types of links: internal and external. There are also follow links.

Webmasters can apply the Nofollow attribute to backlinks. This is how it looks:

Google declared in 2019 that nofollow links Buy good Backlinks would be treated hints and not directives. Google may “count” nofollow links sometimes and not others.

Although we don’t know why Google made this change it is possible that it was in response to major websites adopting nofollow links across their websites. Google decided to make the change in order to continue counting backlinks for some of these news sites, rather than losing these news sites as information sources. This is speculation, however.

What are the consequences of using no follow links?

Google provides an example when they recommend using nofollow attributes:

Google also made some changes to the nofollow Guest post platform attribute and added a new attribute called “Name”.
